This is the latest division of HGPT. While HGPT has been carrying out works related to the supply and installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) and All Dielectric Self Supporting Cable (ADSS) since 1994, the set up of a separate division became necessary with the award in 2000 of a project for installation of over 930 km of OPGW and ADSS cables on existing 132 kV transmission lines all over Malaysia. The project was undertaken by TNB for the enhancement of their digital transmission and protection network.


Since then, apart from this project, this division has successfully undertaken the following projects:

  • Supply and installation of over 1100 km of OPGW and ADSS fiber optic cables on new TNB transmission lines constructed by the Transmission Line Division.

  • Supply and installation OPGW in Indonesia, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.

  • Providing consultancy services and supervisory management to our sister organization in India for the installation of over 800 km of OPGW and ADSS on existing transmission lines for Power Grid Corporation of India.

  • It is a matter of pride that in 2003, TNB thought it fit to award to us a prestigious project for installation of nearly 700 km of OPGW on existing 275 kV Transmission lines with ALL CONDUCTORS LIVE. HGPT was the only local Malaysian contractor considered for this project, while another package in this project was awarded to a foreign company.



The live line method will go a long way in ensuring that power utilities will have to put less stress on their transmission grid while retrofitting OPGW on their existing lines.
